Frequently asked questions

Installation

Can I install the stair kit myself?

Yes—our stair kits are supplied flat-packed and are suitable for confident DIYers with good carpentry skills. Each kit includes instructions to guide you through assembly. If you are unsure about any part of the job, we recommend engaging a licensed builder or experienced installer.

What is included in my stair kit?

Your Order Summary will confirm exactly what is included. Depending on your selection, this may include strings, treads, risers, posts, balusters, handrails, base rails, glue blocks, wedges, a small pack of assembly fixings and installation instructions.

Ordering & design

Can Stairbuilder check my design before manufacture?

Yes. Before production begins, our technical team reviews each submitted design to check that it can be manufactured and that the stair is designed to meet applicable requirements.

Can I save my design and get help?

Yes. You can save your configuration at any stage and share it with our support team. Our team can review your design and help answer any questions you may have.

What if the 3D Stair Designer cannot create the stair I need?

Some layouts are more complex than the online configurator can handle. If you cannot create the stair you need, get in touch with us and send through your measurements, drawings, and ideas. We will let you know whether we can offer a suitable solution.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If you need to make a change or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. Changes may be possible before manufacture begins.

Delivery

Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes. Stairbuilder delivers to metropolitan, regional, and remote locations throughout Australia. Your order is generally delivered kerbside by a freight carrier. Estimated production and delivery timeframes are provided when you order, but may vary depending on your location, freight availability, materials, and stair design.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

Yes, it is best to have someone available to receive your order. Stair kits are generally delivered kerbside, so please make sure there is safe access and enough help available to move the items from the delivery point.

Warranty & compliance

Are the stairs compliant with Australian building requirements?

Yes, our stairs are designed and manufactured in line with applicable Australian building requirements. Compliance of the completed stair depends on correct installation and following the supplied specifications.

What warranty do you provide?

Stairbuilder provides a 7-year warranty against defects in materials and manufacture from the date of delivery. This is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. The warranty does not cover normal timber movement, wear and tear, incorrect installation, poor storage, or damage caused by moisture, heat, sunlight, or unfinished timber.

Not sure the designer can handle your layout? Send your measurements and drawings — we’ll tell you what’s possible.
